Your skin is the largest organ on your body. Soft, smooth, glowing skin is the perfect way to make a good first impression. Below are some tips to help you help get your skin looking its best.
1. Keep plants in the house: Having a lot of house plants can help prevent dry skin. Plants add moisture to the air in two ways: through photosynthesis (their leaves produce water) and also evaporation from their well watered soil.
2. Get more sleep: The body regenerates collagen and keratin (a protein in the skin’s top layer) during sleep. Lack of sleep can dull the complexion and make dark circles look worse under the eye
3. Revive your skin for summer during spring: Getting a head start for summer will give you and early summer glow. Begin by moisturizing everyday and exfoliating regularly with a poof or loofah and your favorite body wash. Don’t forget your heels, knees, elbows and other dry spots. Switching to moisturizing self tanner after a couple of weeks will give you a head start on your summer glow.
4. Try to minimize stress: Both environmental and emotional stress triggers conditions such acne, hives, eczema, psoriasis, warts, clod sores and blisters. Even if the stress does not actually show up on your skin, it is one of the chief contributors to an increased population of free radicals in the body which has been linked to premature aging.
5. Don’t touch your face too much: Poking and picking at your face is tempting but can cause scarring. When you apply treatment products, let them do their job. And keep your hands at your side.
6. Avoid water based moisturizers: Water attracts water, and water evaporates easily. This means that water based moisturizers draw out the moisture in your skin and evaporates it. Thus your skin looks dull even though you're moisturizing. Also you have to reapply it sooner which only makes the effects worse. Despite the myths you have heard about oil based moisturizers they are better for you because they keep moisture in. This reduces wrinkles, blemishes and makes your skin look younger, firmer, and glowing.
